Construction Products Regulation (CPR) (EU) No 305/2011 has been fully applicable since 1st July 2013. It has definitively replaced Construction Products Directive (CPD) 89/106/EEC. With this new regulation the European Commission (EC) intends to clear up a number of persistent misunderstandings arising mainly from confusion with other directives which also underlie CE marking.
Ever since CEN/TC 227 Road Materials was formed in the late eighties, that is, before there were any plans to reorganize the standardization landscape in Belgium, BRRC has been a pioneer and an active participant in this committee. The main focus at the time was on the activities of WG1 Bituminous Mixtures and WG2 Surface Dressing, Sprays and Slurry Surfacing (incorporating Microsurfacing).
With support from the Belgian Federal Public Service Economy, SMEs, Middle Classes and Energy, BRRC operates a standards support office that goes by the acronym “NAN”. The object is to inform SMEs in the road branch and make them aware of developments in the field of standardization and, where necessary, to offer them additional support in implementing new standards (which are often mandatory).
